Our Approach to Advocacy

At the Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce, we follow a structured and collaborative approach to developing policy positions and resolutions that reflect the interests of our members and the broader business community.

Each proposed policy undergoes a thorough review process. It begins with development guided by a pre made template, followed by vetting through our Advocacy Committee to ensure alignment with our strategic priorities and member values. 

Once finalized, the policy is presented to the Assiniboia Chamber Board of Directors for approval. If the policy is provincial in scope, it is then submitted to the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce for consideration at their annual policy debate. Upon approval, it becomes part of the Manitoba Chambers' official policy platform.

For policies with national relevance, a similar process is followed with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. While we do not have any policies adopted at the national level, we remain committed to advancing issues that matter to our community, municipally, provincially, and federally.

The Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce is a strong, independent voice for business in our community. We advocate for policies that support local entrepreneurs, foster economic resilience, and create a thriving environment for investment and innovation. A vibrant business community is essential to a strong Assiniboia. 

Our Advocacy efforts are guided by research, collaboration, and input from our members and community. Through our active Advocacy Committee and engagement with local stakeholders, we identify key issues affecting our region and develop practical, evidence-based solutions. These positions help shape our conversations with government leaders. 

Each year, our members help shape our advocacy priorities through resolutions, polls, and community dialogue. We also support our members with timely updates, issue briefs, and resources to help navigate emerging challenges and opportunities. 

Together, we are building a stronger Assiniboia - one policy, one partnership, and one business at a time.
